3. Choosing the Correct Base-Pipe and Coating Requirements

ASTM A53/A53M Is One Possible Base-Pipe Standard

ASTM A53/A53M includes black and hot-dip zinc-coated pipe, but it should not be assumed for every galvanized-pipe enquiry. When ASTM A53 is required, the order should also state the edition, Type E or Type S, Grade A or Grade B, finish and dimensions.
